Breanne Jenay AMFT, APCC PhD Doctoral Student - Transpersonal Psychology. My work is grounded in a depth-oriented and embodied approach to psychotherapy that invites a more meaningful relationship with yourself and your life.

I am interested in what exists beneath the surface of experience. This includes the emotional undercurrents, the patterns that quietly shape how we relate to ourselves and others, and the ways earlier experiences continue to live on in the present.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware. They have often engaged in personal growth before, yet find that insight alone has not created the kind of change they are seeking. There can be a sense that something remains unresolved, or that life is being lived at a distance rather than from a place of full presence.

I started my career as an actor and director in New York before moving to the Bay Area, where I spent years in tech and corporate learning—building coaching programs and observing what high-performance culture does to people from the inside. As a queer, genderqueer, Jewish Buddhist (a JewBu), I spent a long time navigating spaces that didn’t quite make room for all of me. My own therapy helped me understand that the “rules” I was following about who I was allowed to be weren’t actually true. I went back to school for psychology and social work to offer that same space of inquiry to others.

I offer both therapy and coaching, but the focus is always on the architecture of your internal world rather than just “talking it out.”

Therapy (Inside-Out): We start with the story, but we don’t stay there. We follow what the body holds - the patterns your nervous system has been running that insight alone hasn’t touched - using EMDR, parts-based work (Ego State Therapy), and somatic inquiry. For those interested, I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

Coaching (Outside-In): This work is about translating internal clarity into how you move through the world, whether that is in leadership, a career transition, or a high-stakes decision that keeps not getting made.

The people I work with have often built a life that functions well on paper, but they are quietly wondering why it doesn’t feel that way. Perhaps something has shifted recently and you can’t quite name it yet - a version of yourself you keep performing without quite believing in, or an exhaustion that remains even after you’ve slept. You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis or a clear sense of what’s wrong. Curiosity is enough.

You’ll likely find me more direct than you’re expecting. I notice things and I name them. I might offer an intuition and be clear I have no attachment to being “right.” I’m also paying attention to what is quietly growing in you: your capacity to be with hard things and the moments when you surprise yourself. A lot of people come to realize that the rules they were handed about how the world works just aren’t true. I want this to be a space where you can look at that, sit with it, and maybe even grieve it without having to hold it alone.

I work primarily with adult men and am welcoming to people of all genders and identities. My therapy practice is in-person in Oakland and online throughout California; my coaching practice is worldwide.
